Welcome to our computer graphics project page. We are Qi Ma and Jiayi Sun and this is the documentation page for the project in our Computer Graphics course at ETH Zürich (Autumn semester 2024).

Our motivational image, "Hourglass," captures the in-between moment of nature's transformation into the urban landscape. The upper part depicts vanishing trees, while the lower part showcases a cityscape. The sand in the middle symbolizes the passage of time and the shift from nature to urbanization. Inspired by this image, we aim to create a realistic rendering of a scene also utilizing an hourglass as the central element. The upper part of the hourglass will contain a melting iceberg, and the lower part will be a modern cityscape. The melting icewater will flow through the hourglass, and there will be the striking contrast of a stormy industrial scene outside of the window and a tranquil wooden interior, embodying the in-between state of nature's retreat and the rise of urbanization.
